What is a Pilot burner?
A Pilot burner is made up of several parts including the pilot burner, electrode, thermocouple or sensing electrode and pilot injector. They are often referred to as an oxypilot, ASD, pilot assembly, electronic burner ignition or OSD. The pilot burner is a naked flame within the unit that is used to begin combustion of the gas that is coming in to the main burner. When the appliance is activated the gas valve allows gas into the burner which is then ignited by the pilot flame.
