An Isolation Valve is a type of valve that will completely obstruct the path of gas or water to certain sections or the complete appliance. Isolation valves will usually be found on the connecting pipes across the bottom of the appliance and their main purpose is to close off the appliance so that repairs or maintenance can be carried out. There are different types of Isolation Valves used on different appliances. Generally they are Tap Isolation Valve, Wheel head Isolation Valve or Lever Isolation Valve. An Isolation Valve can also be referred to as flow and return or inlet and outlet.
