The pressure relief valve, sometimes called PRV, relief valve or safety valve, is used to reduce the pressure in a system. It is set to open if the system pressure goes above a certain point to stop the system from being severely damaged . Each PRV has an internal "bar" limit set, once this bar is reached the pressure relief valve opens and the build up of water is discharged which in turn decreases the pressure within the system .
