The pressure relief valve, sometimes called PRV, relief valve or safety valve, is used to regulate the pressure in a system. It is set to open if the system pressure goes above a certain point to prevent the system being severely damaged . Each PRV has an internal "bar" limit set, when the pressure within the system exceeds the bar the prv opens to allow water to escape which in turn decreases the pressure within the system .
