The flow switch is used as a safety mechanism that has an inbuilt sensor which sits in the pipework for both the heating and domestic hot water systems. The flow switch is designed to detect movement in the pipework and transmits the information to the printed circuit board (PCB) which then allows the ignition sequence to progress. The purpose of the flow switch is to ensure there is plenty of water in the system and stops the burner from activating if the system is low on water.
