The flow switch is a safety mechanism that has a built in sensor which sits in the pipework for both the hot water and central heating systems. The flow switch is designed so that it can detect movement in the pipework and relays the information to the electronic control which then allows the ignition sequence to progress. The purpose of the flow switch is to make sure there is plenty of water in the system and prevents the burner from activating if the system is low on water.
