The pressure relief valve, sometimes called relief valve, PRV or safety valve, is used to decrease the pressure in a system. It is set to open if the system pressure goes above a certain point to prevent a catastrophic malfunction . Each PRV has an internal "bar" limit set, when the pressure within the system exceeds the bar the pressure relief valve opens and the build up of water is discharged which in turn decreases the pressure within the system .
