The pressure relief valve, sometimes called relief valve, PRV or safety valve, is used to regulate the pressure in a system. It is set to open when the system pressure goes above a certain point to prevent the system being severely damaged . Each PRV has a set "bar", when the pressure within the system exceeds the bar the pressure relief valve opens and the build up of water is discharged which in turn decreases the pressure within the system .
